Meet Nelson Zuna

Nelson Zuna comes to Bentley Electronic Systems directly from the electrical shop at Howell Cheney Technical School in Manchester. This is the same school and shop where I graduated from, 53 years ago. Nelson has proven to be a quick learner, and to be my essential “right hand,” after I had two big back surgeries. He has recently progressed from the State of Connecticut Apprentice program to become a licensed “C6” journeyman. The C6 is technically a low voltage electrician. I am proud to have Nelson working with me. He is a fine person, and is accumulating the knowledge to move forward in the industry.

HOW WE WORK

CONSULTATION

An essential function to the success of any project is how it is managed. A constant presence on the job site is invaluable – not only to you, but to your contractors. The behind the scenes coordination is what distinguishes our Project Managers from our competition. It is vital that the architect, designer, foreman and contractors are all working towards the same goal. Our timely and concise communication ensures everyone understands the scope of the project, their role, our role and time frames for completion.

DESIGN

Our range of expertise encompasses the full range of electronic and electrical systems. We plan and design comprehensively to ensure the utmost in performance, simplicity and safety. We consider all of the details, from the size of the room and the proper seating arrangements to the selection of audio and video equipment, room lighting, HVAC, power, and safety requirements. Every system designed and installed by us is completely engineered from top to bottom. Once the initial design is complete, we review it with you to verify it meets your expectations and the needs of each member of your project team. Regardless of the size or complexity of a system’s design, detailed engineering is needed to ensure a 100% functional and reliable system.

INSTALLATION

Often the most scrutinized element of the process, great installation craftsmanship is the hallmark of our company. The quality of your installation is determined by the people working on your project. Our certified technicians take great care and pride during each phase of installation while treating your home and possessions with respect and care. We use the best materials, tools, and installation methods on every project. Particular attention is paid to professionalism in working with other trades on your project.

PROGRAMMING

Our thoughtfully designed and ultra-simple interfaces are created with your needs in mind. Open protocol programming language enables us to talk to systems on your terms, not how each manufacturer determines you should control their product. The programming of systems and interfaces such as touchpads, keypads, or iPads, is based solely on your individual requirements. We take your needs and create a custom graphical user interface that’s easy-to-read, navigate and use on a daily basis. No matter what the device, you’ll enjoy being in control of your environment!

SUPPORT

Whether your project is being designed, engineered, installed or has reached completion, your satisfaction is our priority. We are committed to ensure the integrity of your systems by providing in-home service, preventive maintenance, and upgrades as needed. In addition to maintaining your system, we are capable of providing service on systems designed by other companies. We are also available to complete a project mid-stream, should circumstances arise.

TRAINING

Training is not simply about teaching people how to press buttons. We see it as our job to make your system operate as if it were your second nature. We create a relaxed and informal training environment where the emphasis is on communication, not technology. All participants are encouraged to get hands on with the equipment, ask questions, and feel totally relaxed. The faster you experience all the magic of your system, the faster you’ll enjoy a happy return on your investment.

About Bentley Electronic Systems

Bentley Electronic Systems is the continuation of a family business that dates back to 1952. Arthur Bentley started Bentley Radio Service, which repaired house radios, car radios, phonographs, etc., and installed car audio systems.

Bob Bentley, BES owner, learned the electronics business from Arthur, his father, and those basics skills guide him today. Bob earned his first occupational license, the R1 – Certified Electronic Technician in 1972. In 1974, the business moved to the Bentley’s home town of Glastonbury, CT and featured home audio systems and commercial audio/public address systems.

When Arthur Bentley retired, Bob went on his own, founding a company named Autofidelity, which specialized in high-end automotive audio and security systems. His reputation and business was built from integrity, honesty, and cutting-edge-knowledge. The shop featured carpeted installation bays, for his clients exotic vehicles.

Bob was busy during these years. He was a nationally published author for industry trade and consumer magazines. Bob even wrote an article for Stereo Review, now Sound and Vision magazine. During this time Bob was on the Board of Directors of the auto sound industry trade group, CASA. On that Board was the owner of Directed Electronics, Mr. Darrel Issa, yes, the same Darrell Issa that is now a US Congressman from California. Also, for CASA, Bob wrote a good chunk of the MECP Study Guide for autosound installers around the country. This guide was used to study for the National Exams.

Bob was invited to most of the industries top manufacturers training programs. They would have him in to evaluate the course, then write an article about it.

When the automotive sound industry market changed, Bob exited the autosound business to concentrate solely on residential and commercial audio/video systems. It is work he has a passion for, and the intent is to furnish the best quality work and equipment for his clients projects.
